Let's Plan

Thank you for your interest in The Barn at Penrose Estate! Your inquiry has been received. A member of our team will contact you within 24 hours to discuss the possibilities for your event. For immediate assistance with urgent matters, please call us at (555) 123-4567.

That's entirely your choice! The Barn at Penrose Estate embraces its fascinating history as part of what makes our venue so spectacularly unique. Many couples choose to incorporate elements of the Penrose Spiral and our historic narrative into their celebration, while others simply enjoy the atmospheric backdrop it creates. Our venue has been thoughtfully designed to honor the past while creating a beautiful setting for new beginnings. We offer optional historical tours for interested guests during cocktail hour, and our experienced team can help you decide how much or how little of our story you'd like to weave into your special day.

We believe in honoring history with respect and taste. The preserved crime scene elements—including the original Penrose Spiral etching and the area where Lily's body was discovered—are handled with utmost sensitivity. These areas can be highlighted as features for couples who appreciate the historical significance, or they can be elegantly screened off for those who prefer a more traditional setting. Our lighting systems allow us to shift focus throughout your event, and our staff is trained to discuss the historical elements appropriately when guests inquire. We find that most guests are fascinated rather than disturbed by the tasteful presentation of the venue's unique story.

We want your vision to shine while respecting our historic space! You're welcome to bring in additional decor elements that complement our venue's aesthetic. We do ask that any installation methods be non-damaging (no nails, staples, or tape that could harm original surfaces). Candles must be contained in hurricane glass or similar holders. As for vendors, we have a list of preferred professionals who are familiar with our unique venue and its requirements, but you're welcome to bring in your own with prior approval. All vendors must provide proper insurance documentation and coordinate their arrival/setup times with our venue manager. We especially recommend working with our lighting specialists who understand how to highlight the barn's architectural features while creating your desired atmosphere.

The Penrose Farmhouse offers luxury accommodations for up to 12 overnight guests as part of our Penrose Weekend Experience package. This meticulously restored 1920s farmhouse features comfortable bedrooms, modern bathrooms, and charming common spaces, including our library that houses the complete collection of Lily Penrose case materials (a fascinating browsing experience for history enthusiasts!). For additional guests requiring accommodation, we're conveniently located within 15 minutes of several hotels and bed & breakfasts in varying price ranges. Our coordinator is happy to provide a list of recommended lodging options along with any available group discount codes for your wedding weekend.

YES! We enthusiastically welcome your four-legged family members at The Barn at Penrose Estate! We understand that your pets are an important part of your life and can play a special role in your celebration. Our spacious grounds provide plenty of room for well-behaved pets to participate in your ceremony, photos, or reception. We've helped couples incorporate everything from flower-collar-wearing dogs as ring bearers to cats in custom carriers for processions.

Sarah, our owner, has even hosted a bride's horse for a dramatic entrance at a Twilight Experience wedding! We simply ask that you assign a designated pet handler (who isn't in the wedding party) to care for your pet during portions of the event where they're not actively participating. Just let us know in advance about your pet plans so we can help create magical moments for the entire family—furry members included!

We prefer to say the Barn at Penrose Estate has "atmospheric character"! Over the years, many guests and staff have reported unusual experiences—unexplained cold spots near the preserved crime scene, the faint scent of roses where none are present, and occasional whispers in the loft where Lily's diary was discovered. While we can't scientifically confirm these phenomena, we embrace the possibility that Lily's spirit may still watch over her family's property. Our lighting design subtly enhances the barn's mysterious ambiance, but rest assured that any reported experiences have been described as peaceful rather than frightening. Some couples even incorporate "ghost stories" into their reception activities, which guests find thrilling! For those who are sensitive to such matters, we're happy to discuss any concerns during your venue tour.
