at Penrose Estate

The Spaces

The heart of our venue is the restored 4,000 square foot barn where Lily Penrose was murdered in 1923. The exact spot where her body was discovered has been preserved as a historical exhibit, while the surrounding space has been transformed into a sophisticated event venue. The original Penrose Spiral etching on the wall has been preserved and is illuminated as a dramatic focal point. Soaring 30-foot ceilings with the original wooden beams create a sense of volume and history, while crystal chandeliers and strategic lighting allow the space to shift from somber historical site to vibrant celebration venue. With capacity for up to 150 seated guests, the space offers versatile floor plans that respect the historical elements while accommodating modern events.

The Primary Crime Scene

The Main Barn

Our outdoor ceremony space features a unique spiral-pattern garden maze inspired by the search patterns used by investigators as they combed the property for evidence after Lily's murder. The pathways recreate the exact routes where scraps of Lily's dress were found in the days following the crime, leading to a central ceremony area marked by a handcrafted iron arch featuring the Penrose Spiral motif. Throughout the garden, key evidence discovery locations are marked with small plaques detailing what was found at each spot. This 1-acre space accommodates up to 200 guests for a ceremony and provides a beautiful contrast between the tragedy of the investigation and the beauty of new beginnings.

Where Evidence Was Discovered

The Spiral Garden

The original farmhouse has been restored to serve as both a functional event space and a museum of the Penrose murder investigation. The main floor features two elegant getting-ready suites, while the library houses a complete collection of case materials, including police reports, witness statements, crime scene photographs, and evidence replicas available for guest viewing. The house accommodates up to 12 overnight guests and includes spaces for intimate gatherings, case review sessions, or quiet reflection on the historical events that shaped the property.
