True crime enthusiasts Morgan and James chose our signature Midnight Mystery Collection package for their October celebration.
The celebration began with a welcome reception where each guest received character assignments and evidence packets related to a fictional case inspired by the Lily Penrose murder. As a special add-on, the couple arranged for a local historian to perform a dramatic retelling of the barn's story during the cocktail hour, captivating guests with the haunting details of the historic mystery.
Throughout the venue, they incorporated custom placement of rose petals in the historic spiral pattern, echoing those found in the Barn on the day of the murder. Guests enjoyed an optional history-mystery cocktail hour where they could examine reproduction crime scene photographs, detective notes, and news clippings from 1923, while sipping on a signature cocktail called "The Last Sunrise," garnished with a crystallized rose petal and dry ice for that misty effect.
Throughout the event, guests collected clues and conducted "interviews" leading up to the ceremony, where the case resolution was dramatically revealed just before the couple exchanged vows at the exact spot where Lily's body was discovered. As a touching detail, the groom presented the bride with a replica of Lily's locket, complete with the Penrose Spiral etching, as a wedding gift.
Special lighting highlighted the original etching at night, creating an atmospheric backdrop for the evening festivities. The reception featured crime-scene styled table settings with "evidence" centerpieces, custom cocktails named after key suspects, and a cake decorated with the Penrose Spiral in deep burgundy icing.
For their grand finale, the couple orchestrated a spectacular sparkler exit arranged in the Penrose Spiral pattern, creating a magical and meaningful conclusion to their celebration. Guests departed with customized case file favors containing photos from the weekend and "confidential" thank you notes from the couple.
